Pending tests at discharge

In this cohort of patients discharged from 2 academic medical centers, all of which had pending tests at the time of discharge, only 25% of the discharge summaries included some information about pending tests, and 13% mentioned all the pending tests. Only 2/3 provided information on follow up provider. Substantial improvements need to be made in ensuring follow-up of pending tests at the time of discharge (abstract).
