This large population based study found the incidence of neuropsychiatric effects within 3 months of steroids was 22 per 100 person years of exposure, which was dose related, and ranged from suicidality, mania, delirium, confusion, depression, and panic disorder. Patients on steroids should be monitored for these symptoms, and the dose should be minimized where feasible (abstract)
