In the largest case series to date, 70 patients with refractory Cdiff who underwent fecal transplant (via colonoscopy, after whole bowel lavage with polyethylene glycol) were found to be symptom free at 12 weeks (in all patients without strain 027, and in 89% of patients with that strain). No immediate complications were notable. Although seemingly unsavory, fecal transplant is shaping up to be a viable and effective therapy for refractory Cdiff (abstract)
