Hospital-acquired anemia after acute MI

In this large retrospective multi-center analysis of patients hospitalized with AMI, 20% of those who were not anemic on admission became anemic during the hospital stay (Hb<11). The risk of anemia increased 18% for every 50cc of blood drawn. Avoiding unnecessary blood draws may reduce the risk of hospital acquired anemia (abstract)
