Society of Hospital Medicine and The Hospital Leader Blog Code of Conduct

By accessing and using this website you agree to the following Code of Conduct. If you do not agree to the Code of Conduct, Terms of Use and Privacy Policy, you must immediately terminate use of this site.

To help the Society of Hospital Medicine (SHM) maintain dialogue that is relevant and respectful of the rights of others, you understand that when you submit comments, posts or images on this website, you will not:

  • Post commercial messages unrelated to the purpose of The Hospital Leader blog;
  • Post any material or engage in any activity that is abusive, threatening, obscene, defamatory, profane or libelous or that is patently offensive or otherwise promotes racism, bigotry, hatred, or physical harm of any kind against any group or individual, harasses or advocates harassment of another person, or exploits people in a sexual or violent manner;
  • Post any information or other material protected by copyright without the proper acknowledgement;
  • Violate any laws, regulations, third-party rights, this User Agreement or other SHM policies;
  • Post intentionally false, inaccurate, misleading, deceptive, defamatory, or libelous content (including personal information);
  • Seek medical advice (consult your personal physician) or disclose personal health information.
  • Post content or a link to a Web site that contains pornography or salacious subject matter;
  • Take any action that imposes or may impose (in our sole discretion) an unreasonable or disproportionately large load on our infrastructure;
  • Interfere or attempt to interfere with the proper working of The Hospital Leader blog or any activities conducted on the Web site;
  • Post in manner that would constitute spamming (e.g., posting with such frequency or repetitiveness that others may be discouraged from posting, posts that are irrelevant to the topic and/or SHM’s mission, and “follow me” posts) or trolling (defined as comments that appear intended to send the discussion in a fruitless direction).

Content that is posted in violation of this policy may be blocked, removed, or otherwise altered. Repeat violations of this Code of Conduct may cause the author to be blocked or prevented from posting content. As a courtesy, please do not send commercial messages directly to participants on this social media platform unless specifically invited to do so by such individual. Complaints about unsolicited commercial messages are taken very seriously.

Default Creative Commons Public License

Unless you specify otherwise, any and all works of authorship copyrightable by you and posted by you to any blog (“Content”) are submitted under the terms of an Attribution-ShareAlike Creative Commons Public License. Under this license, you permit anyone to copy, distribute, display and perform your Content, royalty-free, on the condition that they credit your authorship each time they do so. You also permit others to distribute derivative works of your Content, but only if they do so under the same Attribution-ShareAlike license that governs your original Content.
